Our little family at Thanksgiving

Aunt Evin snapped this photo at Thanksgiving at Grandma and Grandpa Greensfelder's. We don't get pictures of the three of us very often so this one is special.

Just a great day!

Right now, Daddy is upstairs giving you a bath. I can hear the two of you giggling and you're splashing around the tub. It's the second day of my October break and we had a great day together. We played with Evan's trucks in the morning. You "helped" me with the laundry. We sorted some of your baby clothes to give to the Women's shelter downtown - although you were convinced that three pairs of pants were supposed to go in the trashcan. :) We began to leave for Sears to buy you some new shoes (your feet grow so fast!) and you fell asleep before we got to the end of the street. So we did a "U"ie and you slept for two hours (a rarity in this house). When you woke up we went to Sears and played on the floor of the shoe section for about an hour trying to find the match to the perfect shoe for your high instep feet. You helped me look in all the boxes!

Then I watched you play and explore in the mall's kid area. That's where this picture came from. You are quite the little monkey! You were making me nervous, but I know that you are still cautious and careful when you are exploring. I wonder how long that will last. We went to the pet store next to the play area and you laughed hysterically at a Pekingese puppy that was jumping all around his cage.

During the short drive toward home, you fell asleep and we sat in Von's parking lot until you woke up. You had a great time grocery shopping, complete with eating a whole banana and a chocolate chip cookie the bakery lady gave you.

When we got home, you wanted to read books on the couch so groceries waited until Daddy got home a few minutes later.

Sounds boring? Not to me...it was a perfect day! I love you, son!

First Amusement Park Ride

Okay, you are going to LOVE this story. Today we took Sheridan to SeaWorld camp, just as we have all week. But, the last two days we've been going to SeaWorld ourselves for an hour or two. Each day was completely unplanned so you were still in your PJs. Onlookers got a big kick out of it and thought you were so cute!

You love the dolphins! And, they love you. Two of them today came by you on the other side of the glass and hovered in front of you for several minutes. The three of you just kept talking and staring at each other. It was so sweet!

Then, I decided we'd go spend some time in the Sesame Street area. On our way there, I wondered how big you need to be to go on the rides. I asked and the only requirements (as long as I rode with you) is that you can walk. Oh boy, can you walk! So, we went in line for Elmo's flying fish. :) You had been eying it for days! We were in line for about 15 minutes and you were entertaining the people in line running around and laughing. Once we got to the front of the line, the operator asked if you can walk. I set you down and you spun around. Then she asked, "Does he have shoes?" Uh-oh. Remember, you were in your PJs? Totally unplanned excursion to SeaWorld? Well, you didn't have shoes. :} A woman in line offered to loan me some shoes from her infant that was waiting with family outside the gate. Well, her infant was a girl and her shoes three sizes too small for you. Works for me! When we got back in line, I told the operator that we were trying to honor the letter of the law, not necessarily the spirit of the law. She said, "Good enough," smiled and let us on. She even took our picture.

Here you are in your stylin' shoes. Your feet were so big in these shoes that I couldn't close the velcro over your toes. :D

Here we go! You really liked it. You were a bit unsure of what was going on, but smiled the whole ride.

First Swim Lessons

You and I took "Mommy and me" swim lessons for eight days at the Miramar College Pool. After spending the last month with me home from work, coupled with the fact that you are just over one year old, you were really clingy to me. I love that you were clingy to me, but it made teaching you to kick difficult. And, going to the instructors was out. :)

Below is a picture of our class. Little Ella (the 11 month old next to you) showed you up on most tasks. She was a trooper! One of your favorite activities was to climb out of the pool and jump back into my arms. SO fun!! Another one was chasing a tennis ball around the pool. It was the only way we could get you to "swim" with your legs out in front of you. I think, overall, you enjoyed it. Oh, another favorite thing was changing back into clothes after swim lessons. We always went to one of the family changing rooms where you would hide things in the lockers for you to find.

Ask me sometime to sing, "Old McDolphin had a pool."

Sleep! Wahoo!

Today you slept through the whole night and woke up at 8:10am! Daddy and I were beside ourselves! I actually woke up at 6:00am wide-eyed and bushy-tailed after 8 hours of sleep. I haven't had 8 hours of sleep in a row since before you were born! It felt great! Way to go little guy! We love you!

Punalu'u Black Sand Beach

Today we drove to Punalu'u beach on the south shore of the Big Island. You LOVE sand! And throwing a ball...any ball!

You were fairly mesmerized by the ocean too.

Here's your wind up before throwing the ball. It's quite a preparation event!

The Pool in Hawaii

I know you can't tell by your facial expression, but you liked playing in the pool at the condo in Hawaii. It was overcast and very glare-y. A couple of times you wanted to stay so long you got pruned feet.
