Tonight was the first time you said, "I love you too, Mommy!
We were at the Aguiar's for Thanksgiving. We had to change your diaper so we went to a back room. I sat on the floor and said, "Lay down right here and let's change your diaper."
Then you walked over and I said, "Hi Kyle."
You said, "Hi Mommy."
I said, "I love you."
Then you said, "I love you too, Mommy."
Melted my heart on the spot.

Story Telling
Your vocabulary is growing like crazy and sometimes you get into what I call "story-telling mode" where you tell a story about something so that you can use as many words as possible. They don't always make sense, but they are SO cute. You'll string phrases together like "Oni come downtair and eh eh den I went bang and eh eh go outtide eh eh watch dye-do twain." The eh eh's are where you are inserting words that you don't know yet. That's very cute too.
Tonight you were in a story-telling mood while you and I were reading books before bedtime. We were in your room and you were reading the truck book very enthusiastically, picking out all the trucks and relating many of them to Bob, the builder.
One of your stories was to tell me about the bulldozer on your wall. You said, "Daddy paint my bulldozer and a made me happy!" You are so adorable!
I texted this to Daddy as he's at a soccer game. You are going to make his night!

Potty Training
Today was definitely a momentous occasion! You peed in the potty for the first time! Yep, you're going to LOVE this post when you're older! On the advice of Ms. Tracy, your "schoolhouse" teacher, I started having you sit on the potty as part of your bath time routine. Up until that point, I had simply asked if you wanted to sit on the potty before bath - to which you would say no and then pee in the tub the second I would place you in it. It's a game, you think it's hysterical! Tonight was only the second time...and you did it! You peed in the potty! Way to go, Kyle! :) We called Daddy upstairs to show him and you beamed with pride!

You are so polite!
So, in the last couple of days you have started saying, "Tank you, Mommy," and "Tank you, Daddy," whenever we give you something you ask for! It's SO cute!

Words, words, and more words!
I can't believe how fast your vocabulary is growing! This morning we played PBS Kids Online. We played one of your favorite games, find Spud (from Bob the Builder). We've played it a dozen times, but this time, you pointed out and named each of the things that were stuck to Lofty or Rolly. You named daisies, rocks, water, peas, sunflowers, dirt, leaves, flowers (lilypads), and trees. Then, you were able to match them up with the correct path using more than one of the things to match the path. Up until today, you always matched the correct path as soon as you found one of the things, but then you would stop looking as soon as you found one. The harder levels contain one thing in a couple of different paths so that you have to match up all three things. And today, you were a pro at it! I've said it a thousand times...you amaze me!

Keen and Cott
Today, we went to the Moss House for Mikayla's birthday party. We were having fun playing upstairs when you wanted me to go downstairs. I was talking with Aunt Shannon and Grandma when you started saying, "Mom...down-tairs." I said, "Yes, we can go downstairs as soon as I'm done talking with Grandma and Aunt Shannon." You waited a bit, then you said, "Mom," a couple of times. I was mid-sentence so it didn't really register. Then, you began saying, "Keen! Keen!" After a moment, it registered...you were calling me by my first name! I didn't even know that you knew my first name! We've never practiced it with you. We went downstairs and I asked you what Daddy's name is and you said, "Cott." You amaze me every day!

Meow Dot
Your language is developing daily at this point. It seems like you're saying at least five new words each day. Yesterday, while we were playing in the park, you were climbing up the green tube and you said, "BIG hill!" I didn't even know you knew what a hill was!
Today, after lunch, you pointed to the refrigerator from your booster seat and said, "Dot." I replied, "Dot?" You repeated yourself and I told you I didn't know what a dot was. Then, you paused, said, "Um...," looked up toward the ceiling as if to search for a better way to communicate with me. I could tell you had decided you better come up with some other way of getting your message across, 'cause Mommy wasn't gettin' it. It was very cute. Then, you got a eureka look on your face and said, "Meow dot!" OH! I get it! You wanted to play with the laser pointer that we got to play with Oni. I moved it to a new location, but you were pointing to its old location. And, last night, we called it a red dot when we were playing with it. You are so perceptive and smart!

Your Song
Last Friday, out of the blue you sang, "Dah Bo-bby, dah Bo-bby," as we entered Grantie Sue's house. I said, "What a great song!" And ever since then, if I ask you to sing your song, you repeat it. You even want us to sing it. I'm going to get it on audio and add it to this post. It's the cutest thing! Yesterday, when you and Jaren (Bobby) and I were playing in the car like we do for about 15 minutes every day for the past several months, I asked you to sing your song and you did. Jaren LOVED it! Especially since he's "Bobby." Jaren got this big grin on his face, his eyes opened wide, and he said, "Awwww!"

Wuv you, Mama!
Just now while Daddy and I were tucking you into bed, Daddy said, "Say 'I love you, Mama!'" And you said, "Wuv you, Mama!" through your binky. My heart melted! I love you so much little Kyle!

Easter Egg Hunt 2011
Yesterday we went to the Dorfman's for our 2nd annual Easter Egg Hunt. We had so much fun! And Mr. Gerald made a great video of the egg hunt!
Everyone was there...Jilli, Carter, Cameron, Kayley, Ellie, Kenzie, Dylan, Natalie, and of course...you!
I especially like when Cameron puts the bubble wand in his mouth!

Beluga Whale
By the way, you are now saying "Woo-hoo!" and thank-you (tan-you). You've also added:
blue (goo) - everything is goo!
red (wed)
green (geen)
purple (burble)
cheese (for the food now)
go away (go awah! go awah!)
ball - bahball (I think we emphasized the first syllable a bit too much with you that you now think the way to say it is bahball)
you are trying to repeat all kinds of words that we ask you to say.
you started signing drink out of nowhere a couple of weeks ago (and now want something to drink constantly - I think you like being able to communicate). :)
I am on spring break and enjoying every minute of it!

I'm Mommy!
Earlier this week, you started calling me Mommy! You have the cutest way of saying Mommy! And, you come running to me when you see me. Daddy has been Daddy for months. Everyone has been Daddy or Nanny (pronounced Nah-nee) for a long time. But, now you are learning that different people have different names. It's very cute! You call Grantie Sue Mommy too. I think because Jaren calls her Mommy so you assume that's her name too. I think you call Brittan, Teagan, and Rilyn Mommy too, on occasion. You're still learning...

Our little conversation
This morning when I came downstairs, you were watching TV.
You called to me, "Mama."
I said, "Yes?"
You pointed at the TV and said, "uh."
I said, "Are you watching TV?"
You said, in your adorable way, "Yeah!"
I said, "What are you watching?"
You said, "Go Diego Go."
I said, "That's great!"
You said, "Yeah!"
Call me a sappy Mom, but that was our first little conversation! Many more conversations to come! I love you, son!

First Two-word Phrase
Today we were playing out in the backyard. All the usuals - hitting the ball off the T, dunking baskets in the hoop, and bubbles, of course. When the bubbles were all gone, I announced they were all gone and to say, "Bye bye." You said, "Bye bye bubba." Your first two-word phrase! Way to go little buddy!
By the way, here's the list of words/sounds you are saying right now (at 21 months):
Daddy
Nahnee (for any adult caretaker)
Mama
Kitty (keekee)
Yeah (emphatically)
Go Diego Go
Please (eeeeeze)
Tons of animal sounds - cow, sheep, cat (your meow is very cute), dog (woof woof), duck, chicken/rooster, frog, and elephant (you've been doing the elephant one for months!)
Vroom, vroom for cars and trucks
Wee-ooo, wee-ooo for sirens
Cheese (for taking pictures, not the food)
Binky
Ball
You'll be talking up a storm in no time!

Mama
So, ever since you've been calling other people by names (mostly all adult males are Dah-tee ad females are Nah-nee), I've been either Dah-tee or Nah-nee. But, this morning, when you and Daddy were waiting in the car for me to pick up some children's Tylenol (for the high fever you had from the Croup - that's a whole other story...ask me about that one), you saw me coming out of the store and exclaimed, "Mama!" As far as I can tell, I'm the only one you call Mama. Yay! My sweet little boy!

Hugs for Grandma
We helped Grandma and Grandpa Kinney move into a new house today. You were a big "help" and lots of fun! Daddy and I traded off playing with you and helping unpack. When we were leaving to go home at the end of the day, we were all saying goodbye to everyone and I said, "Go give Grandma a hug," and you did! That is the first time you gave someone a hug other than Daddy, or me, or the Gardners! Grandma was so touched because we don't get to see her very often so you don't know her very well and you're quite the shy little man. You made Grandma feel very special!

Good things come to those who wait...
Tonight, you came over to me on the couch and picked up a pea off my dinner plate and ate it. Then, you ate another...and another. Then a carrot, then another...and another. Those are the first vegetables to make it passed your lips (other than the yummy starchy ones) in your life!! We've tried peas and carrots before and many others, broccoli, etc. Nothin' doin' until tonight. By the way, you also tried a green bean twice tonight and spit it out both times. You are your father's son. :)
