Baby Shower (#2)

Today was my second baby shower put on by my girlfriends for all my peeps! Danielle, Julie, Lisa, and Tracy outdid themselves! We had SO much fun! I could post all kinds of pictures, but the blog would fill up.

Tracy decorated this adorable cake!

A great activity! We all made pages in a scrap book for Baby Corbett!
The book is absolutely precious!!

Look! Someone knows us too well!
Go Seahawks! Okay, okay...go Chiefs too!

Just us girls! Thank you so much for making Baby Corbett and I feel so special! I can't wait for all of you to meet him!

Baby Shower!

Today was my first baby shower! Leisha, Shannon, and Angie organized it and we had it at the Gardner house in La Mesa. I forgot my camera so if anyone has any pictures, send 'em my way. I got a few from Sheri. I meant to get a group shot, but my pregnancy brain (and/or nausea) got in the way of me remembering to do that too. We had a great time...it's funny how far south conversations go when you put a bunch of gals in one room. Hee hee! I went to urgent care a couple of days before to make sure I'd survive the shower and I felt pretty good.

Some highlights:
We played a very sweet piggy bank game. Everyone put some change in a piggy bank and made a wish for Mommy and baby Corbett. Here are the wishes...
  • Good health and happiness
  • Immediate bonding
  • A home filled with music - from guess who? :)
  • Happy, healthy baby and easy nursing
  • Easy delivery and Daddy-baby bonding
  • Happy baby with lots of smiles
  • Creative baby
  • Lifetime bond with baby
  • Time together playing, laughing, and loving
  • Sleep! - says the sleep deprived Mommy of the bunch!
  • Put off unimportant things
  • Cooperative
  • Happy
  • Enjoys his toys, comes out easily, and make sure he's cute!

Suzy's adorable little Peter stole the show on several occasions. Here he is eye-ing the piggy bank after playing with the toilet paper used to guess my girth.

Okay, some of you are going to think this next thing is gross, but it was a fun, unique highlight of the shower...Shannon heard a rumor that if you mix Drano with the urine of a pregnant woman that you can tell the sex of the baby by the color. Blue for boys, green/brown for girls. And...since I know the sex of mine, but Angie (who was only 5 weeks pregnant at the shower) does not, we thought it would be fun if we could unofficially determine the sex of Angie's baby by testing both our urine. If the color prediction works with me, then maybe we can guess Angie's. So, that's right...we both peed in jars and Shannon mixed them with Drano. Results? Mine turned very brown, but I KNOW we are having a boy (see the ultrasound on an earlier post if you're not convinced). Angie's turned green. So, who knows?? But, it was good for many laughs!

Thank you to everyone for making me feel so special! I am SO glad that my Mom and sister, Sheri, got to fly down from Seattle to be here! And that they got to meet so many members of my "other" family! I will cherish the memories from this day!

Moving Party!

So, what do you do when you have a bunch of furniture to move, but one person is preggo and the other is still recovering from knee surgery? You have a moving party! Tonight we had some friends over to help us transform the office into a "guest nook" and the guest room into the baby's room. I didn't think to take any before and after pictures (darnit), but between Mark's, Jeff's, Craig's, Bill's and David's muscles we got the dresser from the garage up to the baby's room, two sections of the gynormous desk down to the garage, the queen bed and two book cases down to the garage, the sofa bed from the garage to the guest nook, the TV and entertainment center from the baby's room to the guest nook, and the crib assembled!

And while we had everyone here, we took the opportunity to have dinner (thank you to everyone that helped me make dinner, especially Bill and Kari for dropping - er, I mean - helping with the pizza - hee hee) and play some poker too! It was a fun night (and I was actually feeling half human that evening - bonus!) and we are truly grateful to our friends for their help!

I promise to post "after" pictures when the rooms are done. Painting the baby's room comes next.

6 (and 1/2) month belly pic

I figured I might as well do the rest of the belly pics at the 1/2 month mark since that pattern was already set the last two months. I have had a good couple of days since I went to the urgent care clinic on Tuesday. I actually got my hair done today (first time since August) and watched a March Madness game with JJ and Beth at Chili's this afternoon. Hopefully I'm on the mend permanently, but if not, I'm not going to wait so long to go to the urgent care clinic next time. If I have to go once a week the rest of the pregnancy, so be it.

Again, if you dare to see the bare belly version, click here.

Our Current "Kids"

Our current "kids" have been such a support to me that I feel the need to acknowledge them in a blog post. Oni (pronounced Oh-nee) is on the left and Benny on the right. They hang out with me all day and follow me around. They constantly entertain me. One of these days I will get video of Benny throwing toys to himself. It is the cutest thing! Oni especially, seems to know when I'm feeling REALLY bad. He will lay next to me on the bed and occasionally nudge me with his nose even during the middle of the day with the sliding door open. His FAVORITE thing is to play outside so I know when he is choosing to be with me on the bed instead of going out, it means something special.

This is Oni doing his "Buddha sit."
He's my bud and is constantly checking
on me to make sure I'm okay.
If I'm feeling particularly bad,
he'll stay with me all day.

This is Benny keeping me company.
He RARELY hangs out on the bed.
It's only when I'm really sick
in the middle of the day.

ER Visit #6

Okay, I know you are going to think this is just a ploy for sympathy, but really, at some point you either have to cry or laugh about it. Today, I'm choosing to make light of it. I took these pictures with my iPhone while I was at urgent care. I finally got to the end of my rope with my symptoms (again) and had my friend, Julie (life saver!), take me to urgent care. They hooked me up with 2 liters of saline and electrolytes plus a shot of Phenergan. Totally worked! I felt GREAT the rest of the day! I may be going more often if I continue to feel as bad as I have been.

I'm 6 1/2 months so be looking for an updated belly shot soon.
